Fun 12 hour Spinathon Details

Following on from the successful Tug of War event in May 2010, St Mary’s GFC have invited clubs, teams or any groups to join the club in its latest fundraising drive to help raise funds for 3 local charities; Down Syndrome Ireland Louth/Meath Branch, Motor Neuron Disease Association and The Drogheda Hospice.

The clubs, people and organisations wanting to help can do so by entering a team into the St Mary’s GFC “Fun 12 hour Spinathon”.

Spinning classes are performed on a stationary bike to the beat of music with an instructor at the top of the class giving different orders to perform on the bike.

The event will consist of teams representing their local team, club or any group the members choose in a Spinathon competition.

Teams can be made up of a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 6.  All teams would be asked to wear their club or team colours on the day and fancy dress costumes are always welcome.

The aim is to have all pedals on bikes spinning for 12 hours; each spin session can last from 1 hour to 3 hours depending on how long your team member can spin for.

The winning team will be those who have travelled the furthest distance over the 12 hours, there will also be “fun elements” to the Spinathon on the day.

This event will be held in Aura Gym, Drogheda on Saturday, 21st January 2012 from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm, so with 3 months to prepare, theres no excuses for participants not to be ready!

Drinks and refreshments will be provided throughout the day, along with some free family fun entertainment in Aura for all participants and supporters of this event.

To round the day off, there will be an after party for all participants, sponsors and supporters of the event.

The number of bikes available is limited, so early entry is advised to avoid disappointment.
It would be in our interest if the Branch could enter a team (at least 6 people) for the Spinathon as we are one of the benefiting charities.

If you would like to be on a team, please contact our Speech & Language Co-ordinator, Cora McCann on 086 8892471 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Anyone who can't enter would be most welcome to support us on the day and theres a big fun day organised for the children.
