Welcome to the website of the Louth/Meath Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland.

The aim of the Louth/Meath Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland is to support people with Down syndrome and their families in the counties of Louth and Meath. The Branch is run on a completely voluntary basis by parents of children with Down syndrome

Through our website we aim to provide information on the Branch itself and provide information on services and programmes available to our members throughout the two counties.

Flora Womens Mini Marathon

Attention All Mums – Run in this Years Women’s Mini Marathon for the Louth Meath Branch, which takes place on bank holiday Monday, 4th June 2012.

This year it is estimated that the Branch will spend at least €150,000 funding our Home Teacher Programme, Speech and Language Therapy Programme and Adult Literacy Programme. Last year the Branch received a mere €5,000 from the HSE towards the Home Teacher Programme. Therefore your continued support is vital to support the 150 members who partake in these vital Programmes. These Programmes are managed on a completely voluntarily basis by members of the Branch who are parents of children with Down syndrome

Registration for the Mini Marathon is opening on the 22^nd February. You can enter online at www.florawomensminimarathon.ie or by postal entry found in the Evening Herald every Wednesday and Saturday.

Therapy Programmes

Speech & Language/Occupational Therapy Programme
The Branch provides a heavily subsidised Speech & Language/Occupational Therapy Programme in conjunction with CATTS Ireland (www.cattsireland.com). The Programme takes place in Ashborne, Drogheda, Dundalk and Navan and is available to all members of the Branch.

Early Intervention Home Teacher Programme
The Branch runs an Early Intervention Home Teacher Programme which is available to pre-school children. The programme is provided free of charge to members and is managed on a completely voluntarily basis by members of the Branch. During 2011, seventy one children participated in this vital Programme.

Adult Literacy Programme
The Branch is pleased to announce the introduction of a Adult Literacy Programme in April 2012. The Programme is available to all adult members of the Branch who have completed full time education.The Programme will take place in Navan and either Dundalk or Drogheda.

Fundraising

Sounds of Slane
Live Music Gig in the Parish Hall, Slane on May 18th featuring 12 acts, musicians and singers from Slane with all profits going to the Branch.
Tickets are only €15 which includes a CD of music performed on the night. The ticket also covers a raffle for spot prizes. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8.00 pm.

Summer Camp for 3 - 6 Year Olds
The camp will run from Monday 9th July- Friday 13^th July, from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm at a cost of €75. The Branch will subsidise the Camp by €25 so the cost to parents will be €50. A maximum of ten children will take part.
The venue for the Summer Camp is Daisychain Montessori & Creche, 4 Blackbush Lane, Drogheda, Co Louth.
